introducing the bluebonnet bandit
Did you know that the Texas state flower is the beautiful bluebonnet? Even more, did you know that it is actually illegal to pick one? Crazy, huh?
I have this amazing memory when I was a little girl living in Dallas, Texas of my mother picking me up from school one spring afternoon. We were driving our usual route on the highway when I saw the most beautiful patch of bluebonnets near an underpass. I started begging for a bluebonnet of my own. My sweet mother promptly pulled to the side of the highway, parked the car, and grabbed one bluebonnet just for me. We were breaking all the rules, and we were loving it.
I never felt more devious. I was a bluebonnet bandit.
This print is a homage to that special memory in my life. I hope you like it just as much as I do!
find it here at my Gingiber Etsy Shop!
Please note: If for some reason it really is not illegal to pick a bluebonnet in Texas, please do not burst my bubble. Don’t tell me because my entire childhood has been shaped by this memory!

Love your post and I too tell my kids it’s illegal to pick bluebonnets and am hoping that this is the year we will FINALLY get some bluebonnet pics of our own :o)
Gorgeous new print! *Love*
So far as I know, picking wild bluebonnets is still quite illegal in the great state of Tejas. I remember never convincing my mom to let me grab any from the roadside or town square growing up in small town East Texas.
i know this print is about Texas, but there is something that looks fantastically British to me.
